The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a non -profit association devoted to working for the healthcare excellence, protection, cost-effectiveness, and admittance, through the greatest use of information technology and management systems. It was in the year 1986 that the HIMSS was retitled to contain "Information" in the title. By the year 1996, the membership had developed to around 7,500. As of April 2014, HIMSS has more than 52,000 individual members. Its yearly meeting was attended by more than 38,000 in Orlando, Florida.
